The Paths of the StarsA Poem by Lexy
I just want to walk;
to keep on walking and I wonder how far I would get to go before I'd have to turn around. However, I'm no Forrest Gump. I couldn't walk the same roads over and over just because I can. There is always something more to see. I wish I could walk the paths of the stars because the night sky is always changing and only those who know it can predict what will be where when, as though the sky were their lover only they know how to handle, even if they cannot possibly know her delicate, beautiful intricacies. When we are young we are given stories of the North Star and how sailors used it when they were lost with no hope of returning. As children, the North Star was always the brightest in the sky, which we find out later, is wrong. The brightest star you'll ever see is Venus, the Planet, and Polaris is only the 47th brightest star so it's really rather dull. I wonder if sailors followed the thoughts of children and uncorrected adults and whether they ever returned home. Or if they settled with alcohol as a replacement, never really longing for the home which is still lost at sea, drifting among the stars.
