Dear tempest, with loveA Poem by A.D EdwardsA poem I wrote that expresses why one must learn to accept the negatives in life, and that they are there for a good purpose.
A storm rages
Within and without Gnarly shadows against my window Grimacing and dissausive A barrage of thunder Deafening as they crack The howling of the wind Chills as ghostly hands o'er my back Rain pelts the window pane Incessant banging on the door A flash of lightening that follows There's someone out there I'm sure My breath is icy mist My fingernails blue I shiver under my covers Joints stiff with frozen sinew It doesn't seem that bad Now that I'm soaking up sun Shades on my face Sippin on ice cold rum What is day without night? What is old without new? How can we appreciate blue skies? If it was all that we knew What is light without dark? What is love without hate? How would we know about hunger? If we constantly ate How can we expect to be saved If we weren't hopelessly lost How would we appreciate the sun Without snow and frost Life gives and it takes We get heartbroken and hurt But there's no peace without war And there are no flowers without dirt © 2015 A.D EdwardsAuthor's Note
