Time to Change
By Alira Cohen The past drags They say Like a bag of heavy stones Hanging from the jaws Of the beast Like a rope Like a cord A trail of sludge Down the path to A lingering word Trapped in its throat It drips Like a poison From the teeth in its mouth Off the tongue of the innocent liar It walks with a limp It talks with a cry And its mouth always trembles When it tries to find the right words And though changes come With the years A beast is a beast And is Unfit © 2022 AliraAuthor's Note
