Moorish Friday

Moorish Friday

A Poem by Abdul Batin Osman Bey
"

A description of what we do on the Holy Day

"

Every Friday night

I meet up with my Moorish brothers and sisters

Over in forgotten Elm Wood

At the abandoned first Church of Elmwood

We steal electricity from the surrounding houses

We read beat style poetry to anarchistic jazz punk beats

We have flux style sermons

We pray individually

We pray together standing shoulder to shoulder

Being lead in our prayers by a multicolored hair lesbian

We sing our songs of liberation and freedom

We dance in nomadic Sufi styles

Whether rain, cloud, snow or clear

We gather every Friday

Thanking the Great Parent for the life we enjoy
