Morning of MourningA Poem by Abdul Batin Osman BeyAn experience of Thanksgiving MorningI watched the sunrise While I stood in my driveway The colors engulfed me Surrounding in my mind Blue, Violet, Purple, Green, and Gold Each color swirling around me within me I felt weightless Slowly being lifted off of the ground Higher and higher Until I came to only black empty space Where no colors are allowed In the empty void I was at peace At-one-ment with all of creation In that brief moment I felt my entire self turn off Sustained only by Allah’s love Then without warning I was turned on Feeling the heaviness of my body I came crashing down Slamming into the pavement like a Roswell U.F.O. I opened my eyes The sun fully appeared I was standing in my driveway (This happened on what some people in the States call Thanks Giving though others refer to it as the Day of Mourning, so hence the name Morning of Mourning) © 2012 Abdul Batin Osman BeyAuthor's Note
