Main Street Blues

Main Street Blues

A Poem by Abdul Batin Osman Bey
"

To the City of Champions

"

Two love birds holding hands

While a prostitute chats up a John

Fredrick Douglass lies on the pavement

Skin head kissing a Jamaican princess

Bearded homeless man pushes his carriage

While a million dollar preacher gets out of his mustang

Muslim woman with skintight jeans

Flirty cape green girl at Supremes

This is the Main street scene

Asian man gives an awkward nod

Drug dealers standing on every corner

Secret couple makes interracial babies

Crack head smoking in front of the new courthouse

Cops drive by pretending not to see

Woman has tits out while man has his penis out

Father laughs as mother cries

Hearse rolls up to a red light

I step into neutral vibration

Then I’m off again

This is the Brockton scene
