My worst enemyA Poem by HopelesslyTragic
The mirror is my worst enemy.
Painting a detailed portrait, Of all the things I try to ignore. Every scar, Stretch mark, Dimple, Pimple, Put on display silently screaming, "Look at me, look at me." My reflection showcasing, Every lump, Bump, Where a single pound has added to my hips, And extra skin has collected around my chins. The wildness of my eyes competing, With the unmanageable mane a top my head. Not knowing which is darker, The bags under my eyes, Or the mood this sight has put me in. Yes, The mirror is my worst enemy. Unbiased, All-showing, Offering nothing but shame and doubt. Leaving me hanging my head, Stealing only quick glances, Hoping one day I'll win, This war against myself. © 2023 HopelesslyTragicFeatured Review
