Screen NameA Poem by HopelesslyTragic
You were just a screen name,
But that didn't stop me from falling. There was never any slow in our love. Soft kisses, gentle caresses, Sweet nothings whispered so low, As if I dreamed them. No. Those moments came later, As little gifts, Reminding me how easy it was to fall. Quickly, madly, all consuming, In a flurry of phone calls, And Southern drawls, And things better left unmentioned. No. Falling for you felt like the gasp, That unwillingly leaves your lips, When jumping into water much colder than you imagined. Like the icy tips, Of the hottest blue flames, Not realizing you were burnt until it was too late. No. Somewhere along the way, The water grew warm, Embers began to fade. Our girlish giggles grew scarce, As the struggles of life tore us apart. Now that, that was slow. No. With a glimmer of the girl I once was, And realization in my grasp, I knew I would do whatever it takes, To relight those flames. To find another body of water so cold, The gasps would never again cease. No. I can never again let you just be a screen name. © 2023 HopelesslyTragicAuthor's Note

I like the lack of pressure that comes from some poetry, that it doesn't necessarily have to be good and that.. more..Writing
