Gandhi the Father of Our Nation

                                A Poem by Abdul Wahab Khanapur

O Bapu you are the symbol of Satyagraha and non-violence

You showed us the true path of love and tolerance

You were one who united entire country at the time of freedom struggle

Your arduous efforts will remain marvellous and epical.

 

 

Bapu you were a nightmare for the British

In you they saw their decline and perish

They tried to scare you with their might

But forgot that you had a charisma with which they can never fight.

 

 

Your charka was an indication of national movement

For the British it was like an amusement

But this amusement led to their downfall

They regret it later and were never able to forget at all.

 

Bapu you stood for peace, equality and unity

Discrimination of any kind you didn’t like to see in any community

You reminded to the people we all are one

Hatred towards others we need to shun.

 

You gave a new outlook to education

That will usher a new era of transformation

You know that if a country has to reach the stage of development

Education need to be given prominence and maximum encouragement.

 

Bapu the country will never forget your sacrifice

Your aims and aspirations will be realised in trice

Bapu you will always remain in our hearts

Here onwards things will never fell apart.
