Malala - The Burning LightA Poem by ABDUL WAHABThis is a poem on Malala Yousafzai the Noble Laureate and Champion of girls education.Malala " The
Burning Light A
poem by Abdul Wahab Khanapur Why did you
go out when your friends were confined to four walls? Why did you
speak when your friends were speechless? Why did you
stand for girls’ education in the valley and in the country which did not care? Why did you walk towards the path
which others did not think of? Your father named
you Malala after Malalai of Maiwand, the greatest heroine of Afghanistan He saw a ray
of light in your eyes, which he knew was something special. You were born
in the valley of swat which was like a heaven Nobody had a faint idea when the
heaven will turn into a hell. You were
interested in science and dreamt of becoming a doctor The harsh
realities of life and sufferings made you to change the decision. Still in your
young age you wanted a fly like a bird But your enemies were ready to clip
those flying wings with a dagger. But those
enemies never knew birds can’t be kept in a cage for long Birds do not
know the boundaries; they just know how to fly high - higher . The day came
where everything seemed normal, you were enjoying the season of examination Then you were relived the exam got
over, still didn’t had the faintest idea what was in store. Then emerged a
man, stopping the van asking for you Knowing that
you are Malala, he fired at you. The eyes
which were pride of the mother and apple of father got shut The bullets injured your eye, neck and
the brain but not your spirit. Then the
almighty’s grace showered on you You came fit
as a fiddle after the surgery. You showed
the world the true essence of education When you
pardoned those who tried to kill you. © 2021 ABDUL WAHABReviews
