Feelings

Feelings

A Poem by Alice

I have a spectrum,
a palette of colours
for you to choose,
this pink to blush,
this brown to bruise.

I can tickle a smile
from under your nose,
I can dust off disgust,
I can dare to impose.

I’ll draw you a rainbow,
you can tear up the tears
of the blue in the centre,
and the red of your fears.

I can illustrate the cover
of the book that you’ve shut.
Keep it locked while I work,
I’m afraid of paper cuts.

i love your style in this poem.. and it leaves a very certain impression on me that is hard to describe.. that of offering up parts of yourself for others to use as they please, perhaps.. don't know if that was the feeling beneath when you wrote but that's what it brings up for me.. beautiful :)

The tone of this poem is interesting, as well as the imagery. While the comparison of colors to emotions isn't new, you've written this in a way that is distinct and even has a somewhat disconnected feel to it.

It takes talent to write like that.

And I think you're spot on... feeling is a spectrum. You might be a sociopath though. Most people with that kind of insight are sociopaths to one degree or another.

Sociopaths make for the best writers.
