This Moment

This moment

Time stands still

The world around me freezes solid

Until it all cracks and shatters

Melts, into a puddle of nothingness

Leaving me utterly, hopelessly alone

But wait--no, not yet

You're still here

My life rewinds

"No."  I said, as you winced

Eyes downcast and emotions in shreds

Hands slipping from mine

Never had I felt more saddened

Then I did upon seeing you then

My heart turned to stone

So heavy in my chest

I couldn't believe my own words

That I was capable of such malice

No, no--I cant do this to you

To me, to us--no

Fastforward to the now

You look at me expectantly

So patiently

Beautifully

I take a deep breath and meet your gaze

"I love you.  I'm sorry."  I said

You squeeze my hands tight

And smile.

Took a simple concept and played around with a little dialogue and tense change. Tell me what you think. :)

Well written, with feelings of longing to hold on to the loveable moments with a love one! saying sorry is not always easy, especially if you feel you've done nothing wrong, but it's worth it when forgiveness is done and all is right in the relationship once again!
