Voice

My mother chose life.

A particle of light

Falling from the sky

A tiny, precious pearl

That blossoms into life...

 

So simple, yet so complex

Is this world in which we live

I am a gift, not a useless burden

I am love's consequence.

 

Deep within you, body and soul

I am waiting for you

Awaiting the world outside this darkness

Where Heaven's eternal light shines true.

 

The gleam in your eyes, the smile on your face

The way you whisper my name

Though I am too deaf to understand

Your love shows just the same.

 

I will laugh and I will cry

I will hold your finger in my hand

I will be your greatest joy

And I will love you, because I can.

 

Sweet silence, save our beating hearts

I hear your voice, and I am content

I am lost in a deep peace--

--Until suddenly, suddenly

Everything shatters, everything breaks.

 

All is lost, it's over and done

You made your choice

I wish I could have told you...

...But I didn't have a voice.
