Broken

I don't usually do rhyming poetry (it kind of irks me), but this is an old one of mine and it's kind of cool.

Falling faster, barely breathing

It’s a wonder how my heart’s still beating

When it’s broken within my core

When there’s no love for me anymore

Every time I saw your face

You took me to some surreal place

Every time I heard your voice

I felt so sure you were the right choice

My body longs to feel your touch

My everything wanted you so much

In my mind you belonged with me

But now that dream is so hard to see

Shadowed with envy, blurred with time

Your ignorance should be a crime

For every word that made you smile

It wasn’t worth it all the while

My arms need you to hold

Now for loving you, myself I scold

Because you will never feel that way

So my broken heart is here to stay.
