Since I’ve seen your face

The day you left, that September

I regret that I cannot remember

And the way that you smiled.

I’m closer than you think

Just close your eyes and sigh

Right beside you I lie

I am yours, as I was then.

 

My heart betrays my head

You were never here

You and I…that was my fantasy

A dream of false ecstasy

I won’t fall under your spell again.

 

Listen to you

This isn’t the way you speak

Sweat and tears have made you hard

Trying times have left you scarred

Yes

I will return to you when time allows.

 

This bitterness inside of me

Threatens to eat me up alive

Every time I think of what has passed

I think of things that didn’t last

How can I believe in this?

 

Be still

Let these thoughts wash over you

Forget everything but us now

I’ll touch your skin, kiss your brow

I enjoyed this poem. Nice flow of emotion and thoughts. I like the sense of calm and knowing where the person in the poem need to be. A perfect ending to a outstanding poem.

I love your structure in this poem, I love how the second to last line is consistantly one word. I love this twisted insight you have on love. You make two very different points toward the end.

In these two stanzas you give very mixed feelings almost as if you are unsure of your perspective on love. Neverthless wonderful piece.
