Grey Love

Grey Love

A Poem by A.G Franke
"

love poem of my all to often terrible love life, you be the judge.

"

As I write down the word to describe this love I with it was either black or white.

Why can't it be dark as night or bright as day?

All I know is that I like you,

and I can tell when I look in your eyes, that you like me too.

I can tell your happy to see me, as your give me a deep passionate hug.

As your love is like sweet whiskey, and I get drunk as more and more I chug.

But the real problem is him....

You say you love him, but then you say you hate him

You say your good, but then you said you just had a fight.

So this love feels so wrong, but yet isn't any love right.

But as I lumber in this drunkenness of love I can't see your with him and not me.

As I wish you could see what I see.

I see a girl who deserves so much better than that jerk.

Not saying I'm the best, but I could treat you so much better.

So is it wrong to steal something that should be mine?

So open up an ear so you may incline.

For it feels so bad, but yet so good.

But in reality it's grey....grey....grey...

It's blocking of my conscience and what it has to say.

So much complexity even my hair turns grey.

So please be careful when you smile.

For you eyes light up.

Light up and make even the sun seem dim.

For that is when these emotions start to stem.

I want so bad to kiss you,

I can tell you want it too.

But I can't....I just can't.....

Damn grey love....damn grey love.

Like this AG, you've captured the shades of grey, layers of complexity, the timeless allure of the unattainable, 'forbidden fruit', something hard to grasp.

like the body/ every emotion seeks its calm and live able temperature....homeostasis...

though we think or believe we want constant passion - what makes it valuable is its element of surprise in our monotonous routine

the beginning we bless, the end we curse....the grays aren't usually mentioned in poetry - this was a delightful and thought provoking read.

I love this

This was great. I really liked the line "As your love is like sweet whiskey, and I get drunk as more and more I chug." There are a few typos you might want to correct, like in the first line where I think you mean "wish" instead of "with."

I like the way you described the emotion of wanting someone and must stay at a distance. The words "Grey love" make the point. Loud and clear to the reader. I like the complete poem. A very strong ending to a outstanding poem. Thank you.
