Winter's Wind.

Winter's Wind.

A Poem by C.

You're the winter wind,

that bites my skin.

You once made your way in,

and in the end, I didn't win.

You crossed my lines,

one too many times.

I swear, I lost my mind-

I didn't even know what I wanted to find.

What did I expect?

Definitley not a shipwreck.

What did I get?

Well, you already know I bet.

It was a feeling in my chest,

an unnerving feeling of regret.

Emotion, I'll never forget.

And words that were never said.

Tongue tied,

in foolish lies,

we pretend in life,

that we never stood side by side.

We walk on by,

and don't meet eyes.

We walk on by,

and don't share smiles.

Once you were gone,

I learned to move on,

but you strayed on,

and returned with my song.

You punched and you broke,

I cried tears that I choked,

I was back were I was...

All over again I was stuck.

With one simple thought,

I was foolish and thought,

I thought, and I was shocked,

and reality I blocked.

But, you didn't care.

You weren't even there.

You were nowhere,

and I was stuck in my blank stare.

Forever to remember,

remember, I will forever..

Even if it always lasts,

I will leave it in my broken past.

The ending is powerful, and really closes it off well.
Great work.
