Je suis le monstre;

Je suis le monstre;

A Poem by C.

Looking around

I just see darkness

Unhappiness’s favorite color

It surrounds me

Intoxicating me

Until it’s hard to breathe

For a while, the world was white

Peaceful, happy

But it was taken away

Snatched from under my feet

Now I’ve fallen

I’m tumbling down

To a place where happiness is never

And sad is never-ending

Alone, broken,

Cold seeps through the cracks

Burning me like fire

Your love used to be the same

But it felt good

Now it stings, makes me bleed

I feel like I’m drowning

And I’m too close to the bottom

To try to struggle upwards

I tried to stop everything

To save us

But you’re way up in the sky flying

And I’m tied with chains

And it’s dragging me down to the bottom

Maybe I am the monster

Not you.

Beautiful, almost literature worthy.
