Break Free

Break Free

A Poem by C.

I cannot hold this anymore,

my head is tired,

 and my heart is sore,

if you think you can come back again,

and that I'd ever let you in,

you're wrong.

Because, I have climbed the highest towers,

stayed awake for countless hours,

just tryin' to please you,

but all you do is shut me out,

all we do is scream and shout,

all I do is- cry my eyes out.

and I need out-

of your painful grip,

oh your words are killin' me,

they're breakin' me,

and I need to break free.

you break and burn,

all of my bridges,

so I don't know,

 what lessons have been learned,

so I let my guard down,

you push me around,

make me feel so small,

make it seem like you're standin'

at eight foot tall,

like a big brick wall,

that I cannot defeat.

Free me from your chains,

I can't refrain any longer,

I'm done, feeling ashamed

of who I am,

oh I'm ready to regain,

everything I've lost.

But all you do is shut me out,

all we do is scream and shout,

all I do is- cry my eyes out.

And I need out.

I'm breaking free.
