Blowing Smoke;

Blowing Smoke;

A Poem by C.

I guess this was never romantic
So why do you cause me such a panic
Every time you walk in a room
Can't breathe, might die too soon

We're only promised to each other
At midnights not meant for slumber
Kneeling at your bedside, but I ain't praying
Always give you what you've been craving

I blow smoke into the clouds
You shout and it's too loud
You're mad that I want more
But I tune you out and just ignore

You down a bottle to burn off steam
While I sleep in your bed and dream
That someday we'll be something
But we'll always be nothing

You've got regret
So you smoke stuff to forget
If she knew, you know what she'd say
But you listen every time I ask you to stay

I won't hold it against you
If you don't want to see this through
I always expected you to go
So you don't have to put on a show

I'm only a midnight romance
But just let me know in advance
Before you leave and break my heart
So I can prepare for falling apart

Smoke and drink. A deadly combination.
"I'm only a midnight romance
But just let me know in advance
Before you leave and break my heart
So I can prepare for falling apart"
I liked the flow of thoughts leading to the above good ending. Sometime good to be ready for the goodbye at the hello. Thank you C for sharing the excellent poetry.
