Breathing Sighs;

Breathing Sighs;

A Poem by C.

You'd think I would have noticed when your laughter became distant, when your words
became heavier on my mind
But I was too strong from the past to notice the extra weight
And I ignored it because I thought this was fate
But I put too much faith in you, or rather who you used to be
or rather in myself
I thought I was better than I used to be
But the more we yell and argue and fight, I see that nothing I thought was right
I'm just a fragile girl living in pale skin and green eyes and breathing sighs
I promised to be your light, but you never promised you'd never blow it out
And now it's dark and I can't see who we used to be

Unrefined, but very beautiful.

You're a thoughtful narrator.
