Ghost;

Ghost;

A Poem by C.

I had the best of intentions when I fell in love with You, I thought we'd last
Like the stars - But every star eventually dies
And You did; I don't know who You are anymore
You're just a ghost of who You used to be and Your ghost lays next to me
We used to speak without saying anything, But now Your eyes don't reflect the stars
Like they used to, and now Your touch doesn't feel so soft
But rather like rock against my breaking skin; I'm sinking into You
Your waters are so deep I can't see to the bottom; But I used to see so clearly
To Your depths, I used to know You
But now You're just a ghost of who You used to be and Your ghost sighs next to me
I know your bored, so why don't You just leave
Why do you stick around
We used to speak so softly, but now our words reflect nails against chalkboard
I'm sure You had the best of intentions when You fell in love with me
But You knew we'd never last, so why didn't You leave before
I sank to the bottom of Your ocean
Now my lungs are filled with water and I can't breath
And You reach a hand down to pull me out, but You're miles from me
You won't try to swim to me, You just shrug and walk away
While I suffocate in Your waters - Once upon a time, You would've done anything to save me
You're just a ghost of who you used to be, but your ghost no longer lays next to me
