Depressing that poetry rarely appears...A Poem by Firestone FeinbergDepressing that poetry rarely appears On pages that promise implicitly so -- The words and the phrases are certainly there -- But nothing like beauty is likely to show -- And knowing it -- readers -- scatter -- fast -- Then elsewhere go in hope to find A single pleasure for the mind A thing of wonder made to last... They go to museums and galleries fair They go to the circus -- a concert -- a play -- To spectacle see -- or symphony hear -- Alas! for poor poets have nothing to say.
