Maybe if you're not a real poet I mean

If you think that real poets are only

People who use strange words and peculiar

Sounds and things like metaphors which

I always forget what are anyhow maybe

If you're just a regular person writing

Poems is a thing that happens to you

When you start to get old I mean maybe

You wrote some poems when you were young

But those don't count because you only

Wrote them once in a while like to tell

Your girlfriend how much you love her and

All so what I mean is that along with

With the years like when you're retired

Or something you suddenly get this urge

To say something to somebody even though

Nobody ever really listens to you and at

Least for me nobody ever listened anyhow.

i am sure many listened..and you are a real poet David....because your words come straight from the heart and they teach us about life...

lovely piece of writing we can all relate to...and i think the older we get, maybe the more our poems will mean to more readers...when we first start writing them..it really is personal, and maturity in the pen takes time.
