The truth is that when I write a

Poem I usually try to say something

Brilliant or obscure so that I can

Impress someone with how perceptive

I am but really it's all nonsense

Since maybe I'm a little brilliant

Or something but even if I am I

Don't really go around saying things

Like as if some idiot in the future

Would say them to some other idiot and

Then that idiot would be impressed with

How brilliant the first one was does 

This make sense or did I lose you I

Mean I guess I was trying to say that

I don't always have something brilliant

To say but I keep trying like even

Right now in my subconscious I'm hoping

That this poem is really brilliant.

D...this one made me smile. I've encountered the 'brilliant or obscure' attempts a few times here myself. Always find it pretentious and/or opaque. I love the way you write in this voice...clear and honest. Thanx and keep 'em coming...bobc
