Tho expensive most wares in the market --

Tho expensive most wares in the market --

A Poem by Firestone Feinberg

Tho expensive most wares in the market --
Be some proven products that remain free:
Wisdom is one, another -- honesty,
Imagination is a third...  and it

Seems there is no end to the list... but I
Guess freedom isn't free and neither is
Love nor even life itself.  We pay high
Prices for things like these.  No stranger

Business is done anywhere than here -- you may
Search the planets and the stars-- you may
Go to the edges of the galaxy --
But you'll find not one -- like -- economy.

This reminded me of Oscar WIlde's line about a cynic knowing the price of everything and the value of nothing. This piece similarly questions notions about the price we attach to things and notions, such as love. What might separate us from the animals is that we do business, and as you suggest, it probably isn't conducted anywhere else outside Planet Earth.

Kindness, thank God, is still free... I thank you, John, for yours. --David
