Wow, so true. We start each new day with new verve if we're lucky enough to see the light, then as the day progresses it throws us curve balls, as the darkness takes over we have a whole other mindset by that time....very clever & succinct my friend.

Nah. I live on angst... when I can spell it! Thanks my dear. --D
A day of struggle for the superhero... this was my first reaction to this poem. LOL! Then I reflected on the truths within the poem, the way one's emotions can be so influenced by the time of day as this poem so craftily expresses. Thank you for writing and sharing this poem!

I find a lot of truth in this. The night seems to bring on depressing thoughts at times. I don't know why that is. Yet, in the morning, things don't seem that bad. Nice poem David and something we can all relate to.

If you can't find hope in the morning, God help you. A truth succinctly and wittily expressed and could be used like a mantra in those late night moments of hopelessness. It strikes me as a poem that perfectly expresses its ideas. it cannot be improved.

Your poem is wonderfully true, for some, but I find it the other way around. I find, it's the late night, or the early morning, when the mind won't let you go to sleep, is the most hopeful time of the day. It's the time where you are all alone in the dark and your thoughts unconsciously bring you to think about the light of the morning; it is that part of night/morning where you make promises to yourself to wake up a different person. And it is the following morning which is the saddest, when you realize you didn't wake any different. It's quite an insane cycle, I find. But I guess my sleep schedule is just too messed up from insomnia and your poem speaks the truths. Either way it's a wonderful write!

You are absolutely right. Persons differ in how the times of day affect them. For many of us sleep is not a restful thing, and I too, have plenty of mornings that seem hopeless. It was this afternoon that the poem came to me... could it be my general fear of sleepless and never-ending nights? Who knows!
Thanks again Jamie. --david
