A poem to my darling new grandson, Lucas. It's somewhat of an introduction to the world -- tempered with the wonder of a child's perception. The rain is the cleansing, healing, rain...but...
I guess if we can instill a sense of wonder in the children in our lives we have done them a great service. Yes, the world can be hard, and many find that out through those who are meant to shelter, but then there are those who are lucky enough to have their eyes opened (early) to the beauty that is inherent. It is a blessing for a child to have a caring, sensitive guide to show them the grace of life. This was a joy to read, does a heart good.

You got it exactly. It was easy to write this poem. It just zoomed out of my heart. That little boy has captured me. I suffer from withdrawal if I don't see him for a few days... but my son is good about taking pictures and 'face-timing' us. Thanks for your kindness and your friendship. --David
i notice you didn't feel compelled to use your "variational" English for this write and i must say it impresses upon me the fact that you are totally enamored with your grandchild and feel as if your heart is writing the words for you in this gorgeous piece. i envy you David. i never had children of my own and will never know this complete and utter joy that you have chosen to share with us all. blessings and hope and love to you and your beautiful family. wonderful write!

I am still in the clouds from the excitement and flood of love that came with little Luke. Only now am I reaching down to the mountain tops. That's why it took this long for me to reply: they don't have computers (yet) in the celestial realms. I more than appreciate your spectacular gift of kindness and I know your feelings are genuine. It's a pleasure to know you. Thanks so much! --David
your writing almost always leaves me breathless. The simplicity you use is something that you have completely mastered, and it's exhilarating in this sort of still and silent way. It always leaves me inspired, beautiful piece!
