FIREMAN

We live on the 21st floor of our building.

Every couple of days I see a man

Walking up and down the steps --

Up and down -- up and down.

I asked him why.

He said, "I'm a fireman."

We live on the 21st floor of our building.

One day last week I decided to try

Walking up and down the steps --

Up and down -- as he does.

I guess I'm a fireman.

There are other kinds of fires.

Fascinating. A complete, complex narrative with just a few words. That last line is perfect, I couldn't agree more... There is a sense of ominous dread, just out of reach... Better get ready, for the fires. Excellent work!
