We take trips, as a way to be with ourselves, or to run away from ourselves... To be with loved ones, or to forget the loves we lost? Hm, I like the last stanza a lot, it's a departure, something breaking, perhaps something being renewed, hard to say. Going by himself, alone, could be a positive thing, then again, maybe not. I enjoy all the interpretations we can read into this great piece. Well done, and thanks for sharing!

It's easy to remember! You're right about the various trips we might take. Even today I have no clear idea about what I meant in that last stanza. I guess it's not to be known... although there is a sadness about it, I think. Hope you're well and thanks again. --David
By bus... by train... or whatever mode of transportation... life is a path of our own existence... since in the end no one guides our hand to the next evolution of our journey...
Freedom! Even within our finiteness & the confines of our life situations; if not merely to change our location, to be for an instance somewhere else, incognito, re-inventing ourselves without the hassles & inconvenience of overhauling our life. Brilliant in its simplicity.
