Daises

Daises

A Poem by Oliver
"

A love poem with Daisies

"

Daisies sprouting in a field.

Children laughing and playing

"Not too far back.

Lovers picnicking

"Beneath the shade of a tree.

You pick me.

Out of the Daisies

Sprouting from the ground.

You pick me.

You carry me home

Twirling my stem around your fingers.

You stick me in your hair

And travel away.

Sooner rather than later

I begin to wilt.

My petals are no longer happy;

They’re dull and wilted over.

I know the day is coming;

             the day I’ll get thrown away.

But I’m not sad;

        I’m not worried.

Because I know.

I know I’ll be in your heart.

And I’m happy.

I’m happy I got to spend my days with you.

Rather than sitting in that field.

Waiting for the next season to come.

Planted in the dirt

Among the other flowers.

My greens turn brown.

My petals pluck off.

And I’m happy.

Happy to see you still loving me.
