A Poem by Poe Met Emily

It isn't as it seems when I remember the world.
I didn't think so much could change with ten months,
Fourteen was such an unlucky year.
Twelve was just as bad, fragments of children.
There's something unseen in my eyes.
Am I losing touch with the hands that have long
Withheld me up; saved me from the monsters inside?
I turned my face away from yours to hide my pain,
A chance to be rewritten again.
All I want is you and your glory.
I cannot seem to make my face display
The thoughts that kept me awake.
From such love I am given
When he had stolen everything from me.
He rewrote my entire being within a week.
If I focused on you and let you so close,
Would I be okay? I hear you say it quietly:
Everything will be alright.
