Up in The Air

Up in The Air

A Poem by Kasey Miriam

I thought it would stop after college started
Then I thought after I found a career
I'm sorry to say
That feeling
Where the ground is far away
Where you're falling
Endlessly
The sky blurring as you tumble
That feeling wher you're held to the ground
By only a kite string
That feeling.

It only gets worse after high school
And even after college.
When your career starts...
And that.
That job is your only solid footing.

And everything else just flies around your head
Your boyfriend still in school
Stuck in relationship purgatory
Where there isn't forward motion till he has his BSN
And even then the future is uncertain
Feeling like it's a waste of time.
The financial issues
Your car
Your housing
Nothing is actually yours
You're just renting it all
You want to own things but
Do you really want the burden of owning something you may need to be rid of in a few years
Just to move forward.
What's a waste
What is smart
Do you follow your head
Or your heart

Does that feeling get better ?
Will I ever land
Or is everything forever
So up in the air?

Is it possible to drown in air?
I feel it is when your life
Is up in the air.

We learn too late. Being young and in school. No bills and just school. Real life is a bear.
Our young days were the easier.
Is it possible to drown in air?
I feel it is when your life
Is up in the air"
I understand the above lines Kasey. Thank you for sharing the amazing poetry and your thoughts.

Welcome to the real challenge of adulthood - defining what matters to YOU and how and when to reach ...and for what. And yes, every WHY matters and builds on each real answer. Good questions here...

Thank you so much
reality is what reflects off your poetry. i thought, it's only me who thinks in this way about life, but oh... good to see others too. yeah, life sucks after college. mine sucking as well. bloody jobish norms. renting... & owning and blah... blah... blah. it's, i believe, the taste of life that we taste after stepping out to the world. no???

it always seems every step in life is a learning experience...we seem to find ways to be chasing a dream...and it is so elusive...always around the next corner, the next bend, the next class, the next job, the next relationship...when do we ever really get there?
