Irish Grandpa

Irish Grandpa

A Poem by Kasey Miriam

you'll always be missed
from your ol' Irish songs
to your comic stories
your last words...
"now be good Kissy"
tattooed across my heart
I hope you've found peace
I hope you're healthy now
One day I'll make you proud
I promise to be good
but promise me
when it's my turn
be the first to greet me.

Normal memorial or tribute poems aren't my thing because I usually find them to be the wrong kind of personal. In your case, I found this incredibly tender, endearing and concise. Love and nostalgia are very sweet ingredients, and you knew JUST how much to add. Very well done, love.

Thank you so much.
Lovely words. I especially liked the way it ended. The bond with grandparents is something most of us cherish. You expressed it very well in such a soft and subtle manner. Enjoyed reading it.

Incredibly moving, a tribute so well done. You can feel the sadness, but also the hope as it comes from your heart. Don't stop writing! Well done!
