Ballad to the Loss of Romance

Ballad to the Loss of Romance

A Poem by 8petallotus

My head is swimming with things to say.
Ballads to the loss of romance
In a generation dying for connection.

I once was a femme fatale,
Swimming with a sorted sense of morality
And justice.
Some how corpses keep coming back
Scarred and battered hearts
Passed me up for shinier things
That can't keep them satisfied.

I pulled my self up from the dredges
Polished off and moved on
Looking for those lasting moments
Like they have with their perfect wives
Some how unsatisfying to their needs
Filling me with certain uncertainties
That those masks never should come off
Cause the darkness never leaves.
