Loss Clock

Loss Clock

A Poem by DaniElle LaPointe
"

exlporing grief through free form

"
>the sun refuses to rise and fall according to my pain
and now I’ve stowed away on
three trips around that glowing orb
I scribble grief words
As they surface without use of voluntary muscles
pulled from me by this force
rolling around me
thick and solid
not a wind
but a specific gravity
bringing me to my
broken knees
chapped and scarred

I am at a loss
I am at loss
you went through a windshield little brother
so now I go through
one with you everyday

glass shards and all…

piercing my memories
moments when the sun lit
your eyes
and painted you tan
that damn burning star
distant
pulling

I’ll set my clock
to something
else

The traumatic circumstances surrounding this specific event in your life, has understandably, been reflected in the poetic structure you choose to describe your intense, deep, and profound sorrow.

It has been written, grief has five discrete stages; denial, anger, bargaining, depression and acceptance: all of which manifest themselves at differing times after the event.

The most important thing is sharing your feelings with others who are supportive and understanding.

You have my prayers!

This is a very painful and very moving poem. I think you wrote it
well and the pain of the memory comes across strongly. Sad.

Oh my, I can only imagine what you're going through dear poet.
It's nice that you have this creative outlet to help in some small way deal with what you're going through.
And in doing so, through the love of your brother, you help others deal with their own struggles.

So courageous, and meaningful that you can share your feelings with us.

Dear blessings to you and yours.

You've expressed your sorrow in a beautiful poetic way. Free form or not, poetry is poetry and this is heartfelt and beautiful. Thank you for sharing.

Firstly, this is a beautifully written and shaped poem.

Secondly, it expresses a tragedy and a grief that can't fail to touch anyone reading your poem. I can't write any more. Hugging you.
