You and Me / Me and YouA Poem by JonesyI’ve been here before. This horror movie inspired torture chamber. This haunted labyrinth. This make or break you moment.
I’ve heard your voice. You spoke to me during my worst. You looked down on me and screamed “unworthy“. Gently kneeled down by my side and whispered in my ear “failure”, and proceeded to remind me of them all. And afterwards…. Afterwards woke me from my slumber, and gave me encouragement. You told me you would be back. That after time of being content with being content, you would slip a note in my locker and then nudge me in the halls.
I felt you. You’re soft yet coarse. Dry all the while wet. Hot as well as cold. You are hypocrisy at its best and worst. You’re a perfectly perfected perfection, and an imperfectly unperfected imperfection.
I’ve seen you before. We’ve latched eyes at red lights. Exchanged gazes while passing by isles at the grocery store. I’ve seen your face while dead staring at the clouds. Seen flashes of your eyes when I close mine. I know who you are! You are joy and pain. You are the pinch that creates a blood clot, and the needle that relieves it’s pressure. You are a choice, but still, nonetheless inevitable… You’re the devil in a blue dress. Destined to bare my seed and name.
…It is my honor to once again make your acquaintance.
