Chapter VII
Check, Check, Let’s Go

It was noon- possibly a bit after. The gang was sleeping and the thought of food was merely a blur now.
“What time is it?” Richie stretched his arms.
Steve looked at his watch. “12:00, we gotta go eat now.”
“Wake up everyone.” Richie yawned.
Steve woke up Liz who was sleeping on the chair, Rod who was sleeping on the floor, Tim and Veronica who were sleeping together on the couch, and Alan who rested his head on the arm of the couch.
“Okay, Cole told me that he will drop the Winnebago off when we are out okay, so we have to either use multiple cars or walk.” Steve frowned.
“Whose cars are in the driveway?” Veronica asked getting up.
“Um, only Tim’s, everyone else’s cars are at their houses except yours Veronica, your wagon is at Liz’s. Steve replied.
“How far away is McDonald's?” Alan rubbed his eyes.
“The closest one is approximately 6 miles away.” Rod sighed.
“I can just make us sandwiches if we have the supplies.” Liz smiled.
Steve, Alan and Richie all started laughing.
“You guys are so immature.” Veronica rolled her eyes. “I wouldn’t suspect this from you, Richie.”
Richie looked at Veronica and shook his head.
“Sorry.” Veronica mouthed to him. What the hell does that mean?
“Yeah, we have bread, some leftover steak from 2 nights ago, salami, and turkey.”
“I’ll make some turkey sandwiches, how’s that?” Liz looked around.
“Fine with us.” Alan smiled.
“Yay, I’ll start them now.”
“What episode is on now?” Alan asked.
“Richie’s Job, I always liked that episode.” Steve smiled.
“Let’s continue watching until Liz is finished.” Richie rolled his eyes.
“Okay by me.” Rod walked over and sat on the floor.
The sound of a doorbell rung, Alan got up from the floor and walked to the door. He opened it slowly. It was Steve’s brother, Cole. He had medium brown hair that hung to his shoulders. He was wearing a red shirt with a smiley face on it, torn blue jeans and some boat shoes.
“Hey Alan.” Cole smiled.
“Cole, hey man. Everyone’s here, make yourself at home.”
“Thanks man, but I came here to show everyone the Winnebago.”
Cole walked in, everyone waved except Liz. This was Liz’s first time meeting him, everyone else had seen him back when he lived at home with Steve. He was 20 years old, a college kid.
“Hey everyone, I brought the Winnebago and I want to show you guys it.” Cole smiled.
“Yeah, let’s go.” Richie jumped up and he and the rest of them followed outside.”
“You coming Liz?” Tim asked.
“In a sec, I’m almost finished.” Liz looked down.
“Um, alright.” Tim ran out the door. The first words he heard when he came out the door were “it’s beautiful”. Veronica had said it, and she was right.
It was white with blue and red stripes across it and brand new, a 1979 model. It was parked on the side of the road.
“Wow.” Steve smiled. “I can’t wait to drive this house.”
Cole laughed while giving Steve the keys. “Unfortunately, there is one rule.”
“What is it?” Alan asked eyes big.
“If you guys meet some girls and screw them, please fix the sheets up, you guys aren’t the only ones who use that bed.” Cole grinned.
Everyone laughed. Why can’t he come with us, instead of flippin Tammy, Tim sighed but was still happy.
“Okay that’s the only rule, I’ll see you guys later alright, take care.”
“Wait, how are you gonna get home?” Steve ran over to him.
“Jog man, I need a good exercise.” He slapped hands with Steve and went to jog home.
“Rocking house man.” Rod smiled.
“Yeah, let’s take a look.” Veronica asked.
“Sure thing.” Steve smiled and unlocked the door.
Just as Steve explained it, when they walked into the Winnebago, it was fantastic. Everything was as described except for the fact it had a leopard print rug and a disco ball. The walls were painted dark blue. It was definitely a beauty. Out of nowhere they heard a voice.
“Food’s ready!!!!!!” Liz shouted.
“We’re coming!!” Alan yelled back.
The group walked out and trudged into the house. Liz was a good sandwich maker, Tim couldn’t help but smile.
“Holy cow, to be honest, these look great Liz.” Richie smiled.
“Thanks Richie.” Liz set down the plates.
It was 12:37. Tim’s parents were late, traffic maybe. Tammy would be here in a few hours. Catfight! Tim smiled to himself again. The group grabbed their plates and sat back in front of the TV. They completely missed “Richie’s Job” but they were in time for another Richie episode. “Richie Falls in Love.”
Tim felt weird watching this episode. In the episode Richie breaks up with his girlfriend Lori-Beth to go out with an older woman but eventually he figures out Lori-Beth was better for him. Is this some kind of saying that I should stay with Veronica, Tim thought.
“These are delicious, what did you put on these sandwiches Liz?” Steve took another bite.
“Just some Italian seasoning and submarine sauce.” Liz smiled.
“Cool.” Steve smiled.
“Okay, if you’re finished, I can take your plates.” Richie stood up.
“Yeah, take these 3.” Alan gave him his plate, Veronica’s plate and Rod’s plate.
“Thanks.” Richie smiled and walked into the kitchen.
“I’m so bored, I love Happy Days but I can’t sit in front of the TV for this long.” Steve sighed as he took his plate, Tim’s plate and Liz’s plate and brought them over to Richie.
“How about we all go home to get ready.” Rod frowned.
“Sounds good, Tim we will see you in a few.” Alan smiled as he, Rod, Liz and Veronica walked out the door.
“Yeah, see ya Tim.” Richie waved as he bolted out of the door.
“Dude, I love Richie like a brother, but is there something strange about him going on.” Steve asked Tim.
“I doubt it, he’s a chill, easygoing guy.”
“Alright, I’ll see you in an hour or so.” Steve high-fived Tim and left.
Home alone Tim thought. He walked over to the window and saw Steve run. He ran over to the door and opened it.
“Steve!!!!” Tim yelled.
“Yeah man!!!” Steve shouted back.
“You’re skateboard’s in my car!!!”
Steve ran back to Tim as he opened the car door. Tim pulled the skateboard out of the car.
“Thanks man, you’ve saved me having to run home.”
“You could walk like the rest of them.” Tim smiled.
“Skateboards faster.” Steve waved and skated away.
Tim laughed and walked back inside. He walked upstairs and into the bathroom. He turned the shower on and removed his clothes and glasses. He entered the shower. The whole time he was in there, he was thinking about Veronica and Liz. Maybe it wouldn’t be bad if I imagine them without clothes and making out with each other, no what am I thinking. Tim then scrubbed his hair with some shampoo.
3 minutes passed. Tim rinsed his hair and turned the water off. He grabbed the towel and dried his hair before wrapping it around his waist. He walked over to his room and got some boxers on then some socks. He threw the towel on his bed frame. He then walked over to the closet and pulled out and long sleeved red shirt with yellow checkers on it. He slowly put it on and buttoned it slowly. He then walked over to his dresser and pulled some blue bell-bottoms out and put them on. Finally, he put some black sneakers on and tied them. He then quickly scavenged some clothes together and put them in his black suitcase.
He opened the closet back up and grabbed his dark blue guitar-case and put the strap over his shoulder.
He grabbed the towel and walked back to the bathroom. He threw the towel over the shower door and put his glasses on. He took his toothbrush and put some toothpaste on it and started brushing his teeth. 2 minutes passed. He rinsed his mouth with mouthwash and grabbed his pajamas. He threw them inside the laundry basket in the bathroom closet. He then walked downstairs.
He walked over to the couch and watched more Happy Days. It was 1:07. He could not wait any longer for the vacation to start so he decided to take a nap on the couch. 4 minutes passed before his parents barraged through the door.
“Good you’re still here.” His dad shook him.
“The Winnebago’s in the front, what did you expect.” Tim laughed. “What’s up, how come you guys are so late?”
“Traffic.” His mother said.
“Figured.”
“Well, we are going back out to have lunch with Alan’s parents. We are going to confront them about letting you guys go to this Lake house alone. And we won’t be back to see you again until you come back home, so be safe and remember the rules.” His mother kissed him on the cheek.
“Yes mom and where did you guys go last night?” Tim raised a eyebrow. “Also when did Alan’s parents come back in town?”
“Gambling.” His father laughed. “And they came back yesterday.”
“Aren’t you gonna change.”
“We did back at the hotel we stayed at for the night.” His mother smiled.
“Okay have fun.”
“Don’t do anything morons would do. Richie and Alan are not the smartest people.”
“I cannot believe Alan’s parents would let you guys go!”
“It’s all about trust.” Tim smiled. His mother growled as she walked out the door.
His father soon followed and Tim watched more TV. More time passed and before he knew it, it was 1:30. The doorbell rang. Tim got up and opened the door. It was Alan. He was wearing a blue polo with dark blue jeans and grey sneakers. He was also wearing his blue hat.
“Hey man, anyone else here yet?” Alan asked.
“Nope, you’re the first one. How did you get here?”
“Drove my ’72 Gremlin, its on the side of the road.
“Hang on, I’m gonna put my car in the garage.”
“Tim walked outside, Alan followed. He opened the garage and got into his car. He drove in into the right side of the garage. He got out and walked out of the garage and closed it. A car pulled up to the driveway. Veronica’s Volvo. She got out with Richie getting out the passenger door and Steve getting out the back.
Veronica was wearing a short blue tank top and white bell-bottoms with blue sandals. Tim’s eyes got big. He quickly walked over to her and they walked inside together. Steve was wearing a long-sleeved paisley shirt with a blue vest over it, blue bell-bottoms, grey platform boots and a red beanie that had a white bull’s-eye on it. Richie was wearing a button-down white shirt that had the first two buttons unbuttoned and blue bell-bottoms and black boots.

“Hey wait up!” Richie yelled as he, Steve and Alan ran over to Tim and Veronica. Richie closed the door. 2 minutes later the doorbell rang again. Alan got it. It was Rod and Liz. Rod was wearing a dark brown shirt with a tan jacket that matched his tan bell-bottoms, black platform boots and aviator shades. He was carrying his black Gibson Les Paul in his right hand. Liz was wearing a black dress with flowers over it and brown boots.
“Hey guys, looking good.” Alan smiled as he let them in.
“Thanks man, you too.” Rod held Liz’s hand.
It was the beginning of the 80s yet they still looked like they were gonna go to the disco which was starting to crumble. 1:57, they still had 2 hours left until they leave.
“Hey look what I found.” Steve smiled as he held up the “My Sharona” record by The Knack.
“Hell yeah man, put it on.” Tim shouted.
Steve put the record on the player above the TV and turned it up. They started dancing. True late 70s dance moves. They danced for 4 groovin minutes before the record ended.
“That was great, Steve find another record.” Veronica smiled.
Before Steve could do so the doorbell rung. Tim got it. It was Tammy. He slammed the door in her face. Steve pushed him away before opening the door again.
“Hey baby.” Steve sounded seductive.
“Hey, just wondering but we leave in 2 hours, what are we supposed to do now?”
“We were just dancing.” Steve smiled as he let her in.
She was wearing a long sleeved white button-down shirt and blue bell-bottoms with white boots.
“Hey Liz.” Tammy said sounding sarcastic.
“Don’t push me.” Liz replied.
“Hey, if we go on this trip, we have no arguing or else I will force you two to leave.” Alan said annoyed.
“Freaking fine Alan, I won’t mess with the dumb bimbo.” Liz said. “Just tell her to keep her tramp paws on Steve and Steve only.”
“Of course, Rods not my type anyways.”
“Every guy is your type.”
“Tim isn't my type.”
“But you would screw him over if he hung sausages from his ears.”
Tammy faked a smile at Liz.
“I’m so glad my parents are not going to bother the hell out of me, sometimes my dad kills me, he gets mad at the stupidest reasons, my mom can be better at times but she’s annoying when she’s mad. I mean, I’m going to college in a few months.” Tim rolled his eyes.
“Yeah, really man, I was playing the Atari 2600 with my dad and I sort of cheated while playing and he made a big flippin deal about, I was like what the f**k, get off my back its just a game. Now I can’t play it for a month but whatever. Don’t get me wrong I don’t hate him at all but he can be such a goofball.” Steve sighed.
“Tim, put another record on man, its 2:05.” Richie grinned.
“Nah, how bout we pass the rest of the time with Happy Days.” Tim said.
“Um, sounds fine with me.” Rod smiled.
“Happy Days, I haven’t watched that show since Season 3.” Tammy laughed.
“Um how was that funny?” Alan laughed.
“Shut up Alan, where’s Ryan?” Tammy asked.
“Its Richie, now let’s watch Happy Days.” Richie rolled his eyes.
The group all sat in front of the TV again, the episode now was “Joanie Busts Out.” Time flew by yet again and by the time they knew it, the episode ended and Alan’s all time favorite episode “King Richards Big Night” came on. However the doorbell rung again.
“Who can that be?” Tim said.
“Let me see.” Rod got up.
Rod walked over to the door and opened it. It was Liz’s dad.
“Mr. Martin, what are you doing here?” Rod asked.
“Bringing a friend of Elizabeth’s over, you music loving bum.”
“If its Stan, tell him he’s not invited!” Rod was about to slam the door when Mr. Martin stopped it with a quick right hand. Everyone got up.
“I know martial arts man, and I not afraid to destroy Stan.” Rod’s eyes glared.
“You make me sick, what does my girl see in you anyways.”
“Everything.”
The group ran over to Rod and Liz’s dad.
“Daddy what are you doing here?” Liz asked.
“Bringing Stan over to come on your vacation.”
“HELL NO!!!!!” Alan and Liz yelled in unison.
“Mr. Martin, I’m sorry to say this but you guys have 5 seconds to get of my property.” Tim glared at him.
“I can kick you guys out of town, Now hes going with you!”
“What if I say no?” Alan said. “The b*****d’s crazy, taking about bullshit he hears in cheap B movies.”
“I can run you parents sub shop out of business.” Mr. Martin smiled as pushed through the kids, and then Stan came in.
“Later everyone.” Mr. Martin rushed out the door and speed away in his car.
Stan was wearing a short sleeved button-down shirt with a tie and short khakis. He was also wearing polished black dress shoes. His dangly light brown hair was slicked back.
“Greetings everyone, I am glad to see my runners.” Stan grinned.
