The Ideal

“Elizabeth!” Her mother yelled.
The first words spoken all morning. Tim opened his eyes and looked around. He assumed the gang had crashed around 4:30. He searched for a clock, but ended up looking at the way everyone was positioned. He was sleeping on the couch- alone. Liz and Rod were curled up in the corner, Veronica was stretched out on the floor, Richie was sleeping in the big chair and Alan had his head placed on Richie's leg.
“What time is it?” He whispered.
“Elizabeth!” Her mother screamed again. “Get up!” She leaned against the kitchen door. “All of you guys!”
“What time is it?” Steve popped up from behind the couch.
“Its 5:30 in the morning.” Liz’s father came down in his suit and tie. “Your mother and I are off to work.”
“Fun.” Stan walked down the stairs too, still in his pajamas.
“If we are not back by the time you leave tonight, leave a note.” Her mother and father strolled out.
“Okay.” Stan spoke first before everyone as soon as the door closed.
“Veronica, Liz, Richie, get up.” Steve moaned.
“You guys will be the runners this afternoon. Don’t be scared.” Stan smiled and sat down near Tim’s feet.
“I had a nightmare that a rich a*****e was invading our convo’s last night, guys.” Alan popped his head up. Then he looked at Stan and smiled. “That’s the guy!” he pointed.
“Thanks f****r, now if you don’t mind being the first runner.” Stan did a sleazy smile back.
“What the hell is a runner?” Veronica stretched and sat up.
“It’s an ideal thing, really.” Stan did a fake laugh. “For instance, Alan will walk outside and go into the woods. Go fishing, who cares. The killer will come to try and kill you and-” Alan interrupted.
“I run?”
“No. While the killer is after you, Tim we shall say, will jump behind the killer and grab his neck then you will fight him. Then you run.”
“Who the hell taught you this bullcrap.” Liz groaned.
“It’s from a movie.”
“Oh my gosh!” Everyone groaned.
“Get outa here.” Richie threw the pillow at him.
“Go home, rich boy.” Tim rolled his eyes.
“Fine. I’ll leave right now.” Stan got up.
“Finally.” Liz whispered.
“But don’t be surprised if you find my body somewhere because you guys kicked me out at this late hour. And on my hand a secret will be told. Ever heard that story before? Rod.” Then he smiled and left.
“Creepy f****r.” Alan whispered. Veronica chuckled. Her perfect laugh...
“Hey Liz.” Tim spoke up. Oh snap, I meant Veronica... Play it off.. Play it off...
“Yes.” She smiled.
“I- I- um... Actually this is to everyone.” Tim cleared his throat. “7 o’clock we break to my house for breakfast. Someplace Stan and this killer won’t be.”
“Good.” Richie shrugged.
“Then we go to get lunch later, then pack, then- well...” Tim bit his lip. “That’s it.”
Crap! All my friends near my parents... oh my gosh! I told him I wasn’t going to be home again and now I am. This is danger.
“Okay.” Veronica laughed again. Oh my gosh, perfect.
“And Veronica.” Tim paused until her perfect eyes met his.
“Yes.”
“I have a present for you. Today is our 2 year and 1 month anniversary.”
“And what did you get me.” She teased.
“It’s at my house though- the Dynasty record from KISS.”
“Awesome! Let’s go to Tim’s house and listen to it!” Alan shouted.
“Um, my present- no.” Veronica laughed. “But I’m sure Tim’s father has another record you can listen too.”
“Unless the Beatles have a murder on the rise album, I think not.” Richie mumbled. “Otherwise, I say after Tim’s we hit up Subway.”
“McDonald's, I heard that new burger joint is supposed to be off the charts.” Veronica smiled.
“Ew! Carbs!” Liz squealed.
“In and Out Burger.” Rod nodded his head.
“Let’s just hurry up, The Happy Days marathon is on all day today.” Tim adjusted his glasses- for the first time ever.
“Wow, Timothy adjusted his glasses.” Alan smiled.
“For a statement that wasn’t even that smart!” Richie and Alan laughed.
“Ya’know, sometimes i think you guys are gay.” Steve raised an eye brow. “But I know you both have more sex than I which disputes my other theory of gay.”
“Gay, wow.” Liz said in shock. “Don’t see many of them, now’a days.”
“You will, I bet America will take a turn.” Tim smiled at Liz. “But I will still be straight.”
“Forever and always.” Veronica cleared her throat. Uh-Oh. She saw me smile at Liz, but she doesn’t know what I was thinking about- Liz with no clothes on. Oh her perfect chest- what is that, a b cup? Veronica has a c. But it doesn’t matter. Veronica Miller isn’t Elizabeth Martin.
Tim looked at Veronica. Wow. she mouthed to him and rolled her eyes.
“It’s not like that.” Tim accidentally said out loud. Then all eyes were on him. Crap.
“What? You and Liz? It looks like it.” Veronica sneered. “I don’t have time to compete with Richie-rich over here.” She pointed to Liz. “So you pick now, me or her.”
“Same here Liz.” Rod added. “I don’t like the way you look at him.”
“It’s nothing.” Liz spoke softly. “I-you- I- you know I love you.”
“Tell me you don’t like him.” Rod’s tone got higher. “Tell me!”
Liz opened her mouth to say something, but then closed it and looked to the floor.
“You love him, right?” Rod leaned back. “You selfish w***e.”
“No, I don’t.” Liz popped her head back up. “You know I love you.” Shes lying Tim. “You know that.”
“Better be.” Veronica added. “Or your pretty face, will meet my pretty fist.”
“Got it,” Liz whispered.
“And you.” Veronica smiled at him. “Chose your bait before you fish. I would hate for you to pick me then leave me for the fishes to eat.”
“Isn’t that what baits for?” Alan said. Tim couldn’t help but smile.
“You want to meet my foot don’t you? My foot said your a*s could use some kicking.” Veronica sneered.
“Let’s get back on topic.” Richie said quickly. “Subway or McDonald's?”
“In and Out Burger.” Liz moaned.
“Donald’s.” Veronica snapped back. “Mc-f*****g-Donald’s. Amen.” Then she got up and walked out.
“Its 6:00 in the morning.” Alan moaned. “Do we have to leave now?”
“Yes, before your a*s gets a kicking.” Steve laughed as they all walked outside, into the frosty cold morning air.

They walked out, tension was all that was going through Tim and Veronica. As much as he thought Liz was sexy as hell, he still knew Veronica was the right one for him.

“Rod, wait up!” Liz yelled.
“What do you want?” Rod rolled his eyes.
“There is nothing going on between us. We are just friends.” Liz looked up at Rod.
“I believe you, but if there is one more thing that happens with you two, its over, and you also won’t recognize Tim when you see him again.
“Yay!” Liz jumped up and Rod caught her.
What-an-a*****e. Tim mumbled under his breath as he pushed past Rod.

The group made it to Tim’s house. Tim grabbed his keys out of his pockets and unlocked the door. They walked in.

“Be right back.” Tim ran and bolted up the stairs.

Tim walked into his room and grabbed the record off his desk. A note was on the desk from his parents saying that were out and would be back by noon. He then turned for the door but then walked over to his bed and sat down. He was thinking about Veronica and Liz again. He wanted Liz badly but he had known Rod and Veronica both since they were in kindergarten. He couldn’t break Veronica’s heart or completely destroy his already crumbling friendship with Rod. He sighed heavily. The door opened and Tim looked up, it was Veronica. Tim smiled as she sat down next to him.

“Veronica, listen to me now and good. I would never cheat on you with Liz. You’re perfect, everything about you is. If I lose you, I couldn’t function.” Tim looked into Veronica’s eyes.
“I believe you, alright? I went haywire at Liz’s house and I apologize. I guess its the way you look at her.”
“I would look at you with the same elegance if you weren't a soft annoying 16 year old.” Tim pulled the record from behind his back. “But yet I have a present for you.” He handed it to her. The way her face lit up brought a smile to Tim’s face.
“Oh Tim, I love you.” Veronica did a big smile.
“I love you too.” Tim smiled and hugged her.

The hugging soon turned to kissing. Veronica took the record and put it back on the desk before removing her top. Tim smiled. Veronica’s body was great, the best thing he had seen in his life. But Liz’s might be better. He grabbed her and they started kissing before they both lied down, still kissing. Tim removed her shoes and then started removing her pants. The romantic going was interrupted by Tim’s door bursting open.

“What’s taking you guys so long?” Alan said before getting embarrassed.
“Now I feel like Steve.” Tim whispered on Veronica's neck. They all laughed.
“I’m gonna make some pancakes alright.” Alan backed up slowly.
“Sure man, take you time.” Veronica lifted up her available hand.
"Okay.” Alan laughed before walking out and closing the door.
“That was close, I wanna do more but I don’t want this to keep happening.” Veronica smiled.
“One more thing.” Tim grinned.
“Of course.” Veronica chuckled before removing her bra.
All Tim could do was smile. He was defiantly satisfied by seeing Veronica’s chest.
“Thanks.” Tim smiled.
“Not a problem.” Veronica put her bra back on and then starting putting her pants and shirt back on.

Tim opened the door and walked downstairs. Downstairs smelled really good, the smell of pancakes on the stove. He sat down on the couch. Alan and Steve were cooking and Richie was sitting in the chair to the left of the couch.

“Where’s Rod and Liz?” Veronica said.
“Liz is in the bathroom and Rod is outside.” Richie rolled his eyes.
“I’m gonna talk to Rod. Settle things out.” Tim walked out of the door,

Tim saw Rod sitting on the grass. He knew what Rod was thinking about. The times when he was younger, parents were happy, he would play games with Michelle. Tim walked over to Rod and sat down next to him.

“Hey man.” Tim said.
“Hey.” Rod looked at Tim.
“Dude sorry about all that s**t that happened back at Liz’s, Veronica and I are positive that we will stay together. Tim smiled.
“Ha, your just saying what I want to hear.” Rod moved away. “Besides, Liz seems to have a kill for you anyways.”
“Nice analogy.”
“Thanks.”
“Rodney you are one of my best friends.”
“Besides Steve?”
“And the last thing I would ever do is to take Liz away from you after all you have been through.”
“But don’t you see!” Rod stood up and looked over Tim. “You’re not doing any of this!” He yelled. “It’s her, it’s not you, it’s her, my parents, that killer and I know there is someone up in the sky watching my pain who isn’t doing crap about it.”
“Don’t bring god into this.”
“F**k off.” Rod sneered and then paced his way back inside.

“Food’s ready!” Steve walked outside with an apron and a spatula in his hands. “Don’t worry about Rod. I poisoned his pancakes.”
Tim laughed. "Rod was such an easy going guy, before all this s**t started." Tim frowned.
Then they both steadily paced back inside.
“I’ll get the extra chairs.” Tim said.
“Okay, but you won’t be getting firsts.” Alan laughed.
“Fine by me.” Tim chuckled and ran out the door.
Tim walked to the garage and opened it. He got two blue chairs out of the garage. He set them down and closed the door before picking them back up and walked over to the door and used his foot to open the door. He walked in and walked over to the table where Alan put his plate down.
“Thanks man.” Tim smiled as he set down the other chairs.
They started eating when they heard footsteps going down the stairs. Liz.
“Thanks Alan.” Liz smiled.
“You’re welcome.” Alan sat down and started eating.
“Guys, at 2:30 we all have to go back to our separate houses and get packed. We all meet back at Tim’s at 3:00 hopefully then chill until we go.” Richie got up to get the orange juice out of the fridge.
“Good, although whose car are we taking.” Steve said.
“Let’s see, Tim’s can only fit 4, Liz’s can only fit 4, Steve’s can fit 5, mine can fit 2, Richie’s can fit 4. Veronica or Rod’s cars are the only that can fit all seven of us.” Alan replied.
The phone rang. Steve got up and got it.
“Hello?” Steve said casually.
Steve smiled.
“Who is it?” Tim mouthed.
“Tammy.” He whispered.
“Ew!” Liz screamed.
“Hey baby, what’s up? Hell yeah, we are leaving at 4 so be here at 2:00 okay?” Steve said excitedly, then he hung up the phone.
“Uh-Oh.” Veronica walked down the stairs.
“What is it man?” Rod said to Steve.
“Tammy’s coming with us.”
“F**k no. I’m not gonna have my vacation ruined with a s**t being with us. “Liz moaned.
“Well, she’s going whether you like it or not.” Steve crossed his arms.
“She can come.” Alan shocked everyone.
“What do you mean?” Liz said angrily.
“Let’s just make Steve happy okay.” Alan’s voice got stern.
“F**k Steve!” Liz screamed. “F**k Steve and Tammy!”
Steve angrily flipped Liz off.
“Chill out!” Tim yelled.
“You chill out you a*****e!” Liz screamed back.
“Shut the f**k up Liz.” Richie groaned. “Gosh your so f*****g annoying!”
Liz pouted her lips and crossed her arms.
"Gosh d****t Richie, do not talk to Liz like that again!" Rod's voice was powerful.
“Well that’s 8 people. S**t, none of us have a car that can fit 8.” Richie got up to put his plate in the sink.
“Stan’s car can.” Liz smiled.
“Shut up!” Richie snapped.
“We’re not settling for that.” It hurt Tim to hurt Liz, but it was whats best.
“I have an alternative.” Veronica's voice rang through the house.
“What?” Alan said with a hopeful voice.
“A Winnebago!” Steve smiled.
“Those drivable houses, nice man.” Rod grinned,
“Yep, my brother should let me borrow it while he can use my ’78 Impala. The Winnebago, as you know, has a driver’s seat, a passenger’s seat, two couches, one of which can fit 3 people, the other 2 people, a lounge chair, a fridge, a bathroom and a bed.”
“Steve, I wanna say you are awesome but you still have to get Cole’s permission.” Richie sighed as Tim brought dishes over to the sink for him to wash.
“Not to worry, he will say yes.” Steve made a big grin.
“And what if he doesn’t? I would say let’s walk but I’m afraid to walk outside.” Veronica said.

“Right, the early morning Happy Days marathon begins at 10, its 9 right now. My parents won’t be home until noon, let’s just hang around here okay.” Tim shrugged.
“Fine by me.” Veronica said.
“Yeah, me too.” Steve sighed.
“Yeah well I’m looking forward to the new episode tonight. It’s called “A Potsie is Born.” Rod smiled.
“I love Potsie!!!!!!” Veronica yelled.
“Settle down.” Alan laughed. “You guys are in luck, there is 4 TVs in the house. You can always watch it tomorrow night if we get to the house too late.
Alan sat down on the couch next to Tim. Richie sat back down in the chair. Steve went to call his brother, Veronica was sitting in front of the couch looking at the cool KISS posters that came with the record, Liz was sitting on the chair to the right of the couch looking at her nails.
Rod walked over to Tim. “Tim, can I talk to you.”
“Yeah sure.” Tim got up and walked over to the kitchen with Rod.
“Is your 12 string Rickenbacker working?” Rod asked.
“Yeah why?” Tim’s eyebrow went up.
“I wanted to know if you could bring it on the trip. I wanted to jam. Music is the thing that clears my mind.” Rod smiled.
“Sure man, as long as you’re feeling alright then yeah man.” Tim punched Rod on the shoulder.
“Awesome man, again I apologize for that crap outside. I hate acting like a jerk, but I don’t wanna lose her. I mean, when I had Kathleen, everything was fine, we were a perfect match. The she moved. I wanna get back on track with Liz but I feel as if, she doesn’t really care about me.” Rod sighed.
“You guys are fine, just keep her close. She’s really pretty and you should hold on to her. Tim looked down. And.... she doesn’t care about you Rod, she kinda wants me. Stop! NO! Don’t you dare add that!
“You’re a groovy dude man.” Rod smiled and ran over to the couch.
“Yeah.” Tim got that feeling again. He hated the feeling more than anything.
“Guys, Cole said I can use the Winnebago!” Steve said excitedly.
“Freaking awesome man.” Alan yelled.
“Yeah, this is gonna be awesome.” Richie smiled.
10:00 hit. Richie changed the channel to ABC. The episodes playing in the marathon were all from Season 7. The group all gathered in front of the tv. They would miss a lot of episodes, but they had seen them all.
“Hey Tim, do you and Rod still have that thing planned for Liz and I?” Veronica asked.
“You bet. It’s gonna be a blast.” Tim smiled at Veronica who smiled back.
Time went by as they laughed and laughed at Richie Cunningham, The Fonz and the rest of the Happy Days gang.
