The Dead Squirrel

The Dead Squirrel

A Poem by Alexander Emberson
"

There's a dead squirrel in the street.

"

In the middle of the road
there is a dead squirrel.
Why did he cross then?
To where was he going?
At least he matches
the color of the road.
Gone in an instant;
that pancake look.
You, squirrels,
nature is the cruelest at the hands of man.

Most good. Could the squirrel represent some of the lives people lead? I think so. A random poem, but if a reader looks and thinks hard enough, they can find their own meaning in it.
