Fantasy

A Poem by Alexander Emberson
"

There are places we wish we could go instead...

"

Is it all so fantastic that you never wish to leave,
And have you found the true meaning of being?
For I’ve seen it on flowing horizons,
While glinting white specs lay waste to an endless breathless figment,
And blurred imagined-worlds float on, and on, and on.
I’ll never forget your face when you said those things to me;
When you promised me chariots and dragons,
When you wished up false lives,
And when you told me I could live my life through wants and desires.
But we can no longer escape this tandem.
You more than I are its prisoner,
And we will walk forever searching the sky for everything we could never have.
