The Night I Sat Alone

The Night I Sat Alone

A Poem by Alexander Emberson
"

I sat alone. This is how it went.

"

This night I sat alone,
I watched the world around me turn,
I watched the people pass and the sun spin away,
I saw the moon rise and the stars dance above,
I witnessed love and pain,
I saw anger and happiness, and when I did, I wished I could feel the same,
I wished I could feel again.

I saw a child smile, a parent laugh, and a friend cry,
I felt the wind around me blow, and the trees sway with ease,
I had lost myself somewhere between happiness and heartbreak,
I learned about the nature of man, and the solitude sitting alone could bring,
I saw waves crest and gulls cry,
I even heard the night whisper.

All this I experienced,
All this I felt the night I sat alone.
