The Tragedy of Losing HimA Poem by Kat-Marie BertiThe tragedy of losing him was still fresh in my mind Crying was not enough, I wanted to endure more Don’t talk to me; my vow of silence is not complete Until my man comes back to me, no more will I speak He has jumped aboard of a magic flying ship Where gold and rubies are a feast for the eyes And lamps with genies and tortured prince’s exist He’s disguised as a pirate, “Argh, Sleany that’d be me” With an eye strap and parrot stationed on his shoulder The Legend of the Seven Seas he has become And people fear him to the edges of this world This pirate was once a man not much taller than me When he smiled he could brighten up any room I loved him, he loved me, or so we believed Until he walked away, our love so short-lived The plans that we had, having babies and more Was flushed down the drain, easily given up on We pretended everything was fine, we would forget But forget never came, as the years passed by More vivid the memories that visited every night The love-making, the kisses, the talks we’d had It all rushed back, leaving me bruised inside It hurt to remember, a constant throbbing head-ache Knowing I have lost you, had you, but let you go Is more terrible than anything I have ever felt If I have to live my life alone for the rest of my time While you are living yours along with someone else Then I don’t want to live, let me die in peace And all your troubles will finally be over with
