Beat me down

Beat me down

A Poem by Kat-Marie Berti

I can’t live with you hurting me this way

Beat me down so that I cannot breathe

See the blood dripping from my wrists at night

Want you so bad, but you’re so bad for me

It kills me inside to see you acting this way

How can our love die, smothered into ashes

My own fault for giving you my whole self

When you can never know me, hideaway behind the darkness

Grasp my throat; squeeze the life from my lungs

See the sadness dwell in my eyes, tears fall down

Take away my pain; make me suffer for my sins

Treat me like a dog; kick me down to the ground

Begging you to stop even when I know you won’t

Watch me gasp for air, clutch my bruised side

Want to cry whenever I see you, how can this be

You are my sunshine, but you’re a demon

Butcher my heart with every word you spit at me

I want you when we first met, you loved me for sure

But time seems to take away the good, leave the bad

I live in a life that makes no sense to me

Show me what I’ve been missing; I deserve every slice of pain

Chew me up, screw me up, take what you want from me

I am no longer with the living; I’ve died inside so soon

Walk the deserted streets, alone, without your love
