There she was

There she was

A Poem by Kat-Marie Berti

There she was, standing on the corner

Waiting for him to show up, like planned

Watching the cars speeding by on the street

Hearing the wail of an ambulance in the distance

The city was alive with a flurry of energy

And the movement, the breath of the living

Here he comes now, strutting along to her

His gaze resting upon his girl and no one else

The fire burning in his eyes tell of a deep passion

For a wild girl with tangled hair and crooked mouth

Hand resting on one hip, she is ready for him

The wait is over, they can finally embrace

Interesting but short, there is the beginning of something here, wither a short story or expanded out into a larger poetic work. It's beautifully written and holds your interest all the way through. As it stands it could go any number of ways either a piece of "romantic fiction" ( and no I don't mean that in a bad way, its not a bad route to make some sort of living out of your writing) or a plot scene in a much larger novel.
Very nicely done.

I really liked this poem. It had great visuals and I loved the way you conveyed their emotions. I found it to be really sweet, especially the line "The wait is over, they can finally embrace." I don't know why, but something about that line really caught me. Nice job. =3

Hmmmmmmm.....
Is she his girlfriend, or something else?
Very visceral and emotive, either way...
