The Perfect Predator

The Perfect Predator

A Poem by Kat-Marie Berti
"

Enjoy going back in the water with this in your head :)

"

The danger lurks below the surface

Where moon meets dark ocean

A perfect predator glides in water

Swiftly as a fox, hunting for prey

Rows and rows of razor teeth

Ready to sink into soft flesh

Tear with frenzy the limbs

Of unsuspecting swimmers

Before disappearing into the depths

Back into the darkness from whence it came

Eeek. I hate sharks, they scare me. esp after I saw "Jaws." Who wasn't effected after that film? ha.

also, this would be a great metaphor for men, wouldn't it? kind of like the one you wrote in your "Woods beyond hell" story..I liked that paragraph you wrote.

a short poem with a lasting impression. thanks.

Oh my, what a powerful piece of writing. So well crafted, such fine metre and phrasing.

Can't say sharks are amongst my favourites, can't stroke them or take them for walks, but, see them in the water and they are as powerful and cruelly majestic as any creatures.

Thank you for sharing

Incredible. Love the imagery in this. Though, sharks freak me out. Anyway, I loved this. I'm looking forward to read more.

Personally I thought of a crocodile. But whichever works. Nicely written, it paints a good mental picture.

True. But did you know that more people are killed by pigs each year than sharks? But no one seems to be afraid of us.

And we like it that way. (laughing diabolically) ;)

Good write.

sounds like a shark to me. and i never much liked the ocean or the swimming pool for that matter. can't swim. but i like it. and sharks are cool, if that's even what you're talking about. you could be talking about an alligator or a crocodile. but whatever or whoever (could be a mutant person, i hope not) you're talking about the poem was cool.

Lawls.
I read this out loud to myself in a really manly, scary voice.
The kind that basically says, "It's the end of the world."
And I couldn't say the last line because I was laughing too much.
It's simple, but deep.
Although I'm not a fan of the subject.
Sharks.
Eep.

Sharks don't bother me. When I was about six or seven, parents and I went to the aquarium in Corpus Christi, Texas and I petted a sting ray and a shark. So sharks don't scare me. Besides, I don't go swimming in the ocean or bay. Galeston Bay stinks. That's why I don't swim there. But nice poem. I like it. Now what about one about gators? They're the perfect land predators.

Scary subject. Your words paint a vivid picture and capture the movement and emotion perfectly.

Well done!
