Winter Blues

Ugh, the winter cold is here

I walk to the tavern for a beer

Months of snow await me

A winter hell land it will be

Ugh, slush with every step

There goes all my summer pep

The cold freezes to the bone

Feels like I’m in an ice cyclone

I can’t wait to be in the heat of the bar

For my thoughts of winter to go afar

Usually when I read poems about winter people are talking about sitting near a fire place, and drinking hot chocoalate, but this is the first time I ever heard anyone talking about going to a bar to warm up. This was something different , and I like it.

I can relate to this. My hatred for winter was when I was buried alive by snow when I lived i Michigan. So i have more of a distrust for winter then a hate. I never minded the cold just the snow, the slush. Anyways I liked the poem.
