Truly Alone

Truly Alone

A Poem by Kat-Marie Berti

I’m alone on this planet

My soles implant the soil

Sun, moon, stars up above

Guide me around the globe

Lost, found, I’m never sure

Running, walking, stopping to breathe

My eyes try to focus

I’m scared of my future

Laughter is scarce, smiles non-existent

Words, a string of memories

My limbs move without command

I don’t know where I’m going

Survival is in my lifetime

Pleasure, a lost longing

All I want is someone

Who will never leave me

Contact, a kiss of the past

But no one comes to me

I am truly alone

This is a good poem. It's simple, sad, and universal. I know I can relate. You might consider adding more images, along the lines of "My soles implant the soil." Give the readers something that they can see, smell, touch, and they'll feel the sadness of this poem even deeper. Nicely done. Keep up the good work.

The depth of the melancholy and the darkness of the angst and longing in this very good piece, ring chimes of resonance in the heart of any reader who has truly lived. Have we not all spoken these words quietly to ourselves in the still of the latest night hours, when the very concept of hope or love seemed more fleeting and ephemeral than the palest of our ghosts? This is an excellent work, thank you for sharing it.
BTW - I do hope that this is the poetic residue of suffering gone by and not a description of anything which currently 'is'.

Wow. This is really good. It holds an amazing, and deep message. You're not alone, trust me. There are many people who feel the same as you, and it will get better; I promise you. But aside from all of that, this is extremely good.
