Truly Alone

Truly Alone

A Poem by Kat-Marie Berti

I’m alone on this planet

My soles implant the soil

Sun, moon, stars up above

Guide me around the globe

Lost, found, I’m never sure

Running, walking, stopping to breathe

My eyes try to focus

I’m scared of my future

Laughter is scarce, smiles non-existent

Words, a string of memories

My limbs move without command

I don’t know where I’m going

Survival is in my lifetime

Pleasure, a lost longing

All I want is someone

Who will never leave me

Contact, a kiss of the past

But no one comes to me

I am truly alone

This is a good poem. It's simple, sad, and universal. I know I can relate. You might consider adding more images, along the lines of "My soles implant the soil." Give the readers something that they can see, smell, touch, and they'll feel the sadness of this poem even deeper. Nicely done. Keep up the good work.

Well written, your style is refreshing and different

You certainly pour your emotions into your poems

Never be ashamed of being alone, it's one of the best ways to discover yourself

I can relate to this poem.
But life goes on somehow, I say we all have one life to live, so get out there and live it!
I enjoyed this Thanks Ray { Not a Poet }

This is such a sad poem... I can relate to it SO well. I've been there. One too many times, I might add. But be sure, that you are not alone, there will be someone who will pick you up out of the dirt and will make you feel brand new. I never believed that until I met the guy I am currently in love with. He is so amazing and has made me feel like I have never felt before!!!

Great poem, great expression of a piece of your life.

I really like your poem especially the lines "My soles implant the soil" and "My limbs move without command" Nice work, but I hope you're not still feeling this way now. I look forward to reading more of your work.

"All I want is someone Who will never leave me" I hope you find that someone.

Hello Kat-Marie,
You've packed a lot of thought in just 20 lines including the title. The last line is seemingly true sometimes because all of us humans are alone at some time in our lives. Love visits us and then seems to disappear and then reappears around the corner. God's love is always here though, never leaving us truly alone. We will never ever find that one person who will never leave us alone, though. Some are so much better than others but the love of any one person always fails us. Maybe the definition of being human is that we still have to look to God for never ending love. Being scared of the future should not haunt us in that we should trust God "with abandon" and step out into life no matter what. That right person is waiting there, maybe with the same feelings that you have right now, feeling the same things, and thinking the same thoughts. Love in my lifetime has been a philosophy of (give, expecting nothing in return) and has paid me back many times over, with a sense of spiritual peace. Hang in there. Romantic love is fickle and visits us just when we thought it was on the moon.
