The Soul

The Soul

A Poem by Kat-Marie Berti

The Soul

It’s okay to cry. The soul you have is hurt. You feel lost, alone, betrayed. No one understands you. Where is your life headed? Are you destroying your dreams? The goals you once had are ruined and exposed. The people you loved have turned against you. You lie at night, with tears soaking your sheets, afraid of the light of day.

I know this feeling - it reminds me of a movie I saw the other day called 'The Notebook' where I literally balled during the middle of it...there was such depth to it and their longing for one another though she no longer knew who he was...this kind of loss is what your poem reminds me of. Thank you.

I am very familiar with this feeling. And this heart-wrenching piece of writing you have written has made me realize that everyone's soul is hurt, in a certain way. My soul is hurt and I tend to cry way to easily but I know, deep down, souls can heal. Thanks to you, you've made me realize that. Thank you! =)
Your writing is very beautiful. :)

The reader can feel the shreds and tatters of crushed emotion; it makes one wish for a longer work to pick up here and lift the reader back up to the heights of hope again.
PS - I hope friend Siddartha meant to write 'bawled'... although what one does in the semi privacy of a theater is certainly one's own business...
